Marc Ferrer Trio “Another Way”. Temps Record 2017. 

Profundamente influenciado por el blues, el rhythm and blues, la balada, el jazz y también por tipos como Waller, Basie, Ellington o Tatum entre muchos otros, Marc Ferrer se revela como un pianista ecléctico que conoce y sabe como emplear los resortes y los tempos de todos estos géneros. Iniciado como pianista de acompañamiento en bandas como The Big Jamboree, desde hace algún tiempo ha iniciado una carrera en solitario en formato de trío junto a dos músicos de prestigio en la escena barcelonesa como son Pep Rius al contrabajo y Olivier Rocque a la batería quienes conocen al dedillo todos sus guiños musicales. La carrera que se inició con su anterior trabajo se ve ahora nuevamente plasmada en este álbum que recoge doce temas la mayoría firmados por el propio Marc Ferrer o Pep Rius, aunque también incluyen versiones como “I’m Beginning To See The Light” de Ellington, “Hot Turkey” de Bryant, o la tradicional “The House Of The Rising Sun”. Marc disfruta con su trabajo y, en directo es, una delicia ver como mueve sus manos sobre el teclado con tal ritmo y gracia que se puede sentir la repercusión que tiene cada nota al entrar y golpear el pecho del oyente impactado por la fragancia de sus armonías. Marc Ferrer desliza las yemas de sus dedos por las teclas con la delicadeza de un amanerado modisto de alta costura, pero en este caso sin perder su propia virilidad. La pasión con que aborda y ataca los temas nos hace percibir el sentimiento y la vibración que este músico pone en cada una de sus interpretaciones. Marc Ferrer toca con gracia y sencillez, al tiempo que lo hace con fuerza, empuje y solvencia. MUY BUENO. 

 

Deeply influenced by blues, rhythm and blues, ballads or jazz and also by cats like Waller, Basie, Ellington or Tatum among many others, Marc Ferrer appears as an eclectic piano player who knows how to travel along  all these styles, ways and tempos. Starting as backing pianist in bands like The Big Jamboree, he has now launched a solo career on a trio format with two reputed musicians of Barcelona scene like Pep Rius on bass and Olivier Rocque on drums who perfectly know all Marc’s musical winks. The promising career that began with his previous work, is now consolidated with this album that gathers twelve songs, most of them written by Marc Ferrer or Pep Rius, but where we can also find some versions like "I'm Beginning To See The Light" by Ellington, "Hot Turkey" by Bryant or the traditional "The House Of The Rising Sun". Marc loves the music he plays so it is always a pleasure to enjoy his live shows and see how he moves his hands over the piano keyboard with such a graceful rhythm that will make you feel the way each note hits listeners bodies who are totally impacted by the fragrance of his harmonies. Marc Ferrer slides his fingertips along the keys with the delicacy of a mannered haute couture fashion designer but, in this case, without losing his manhood. The passion he approaches and attacks songs make us immediately realize the vibrant feeling he gives to every performance. Marc feels comfortable with a repertoire he plays with an amazing grace but, at the same time, with a powerful strength, a lot of punch and a good dose of credibility. VERY GOOD.
